World Homeopathy Awareness Week (WHAW) is celebrated in over 45 countries around the world. The 2009 theme is “Homeopathy for Allergies.” Dates for the 2009 WHAW celebration is April 10-16, 2009. This year’s observations are also dedicated to the 254th anniversary of the birth of Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy.

World Homeopathy Awareness Week is sponsored by World Homeopathy Awareness Organization (WHAO), a non-profit volunteer organization incorporated in the Netherlands in 2008. On February 28, 2009, WHAO was officially recognized as a non-profit in the Netherlands.

The first WHAW took place in 2005. The United States chapter, WHAW-US, won the WHOA’s award for outstanding contribution to homeopathic awareness in 2007. Other participating countries include Armenia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Finland, Hungary, Israel, Kenya, Pakistan, Serbia, Spain, Ireland, Nepal, Australia, Bosnia, Denmark, Greece, India, Lithuania, New Zealand, Slovakia, Egypt, Bangladesh, Japan, Malaysia, Australia, Romania, South Africa, and Brazil.

Homeopathy provides an effective and gently way to treat allergies. Using potentized medicines, homeopaths prescribe minute doses to treat both the acute reaction to allergens, as well as the cause. The breakdown of a person’s immune system can be rebuilt and healed, so that the reaction to allergens is lessened, prevented, or removed.

Homeopathy provides valuable first aid, when treating acute and life-threatening allergic reactions. Homeopathic remedies are sold over the counter in many health food stores and pharmacies, and can safely be used to treat acute problems, such as minor burns, bruises, sprains, bites, and stomach distress. To treat chronic diseases, a qualified homeopathic practitioner should be consulted.

The exact mechanism of homeopathic drug therapy has not yet been discovered, due to the minute nature of the substances in the highly potentized medicines. This has led some scientists to speak out against homeopathy. Current breakthroughs in quantum physics and the memory of water are shedding light on the unique pathway that homeopathy provides. Modern research techniques, including double-blind studies, are proving the efficacy of this science.

Homeopathy has a great deal of healing to offer to allergy sufferers. Watch for activities near you during World Homeopathy Awareness Week.
