Online Fitness Program: TV's toughest fitness guru wants you to lose weight with a free plan
Who doesn't know Jillian Michaels? The tough-talking trainer from the hit reality TV show "The Biggest Loser" has capitalized on her years of fitness training and wellness expertise to develop a "total life solution" that stresses the integration of fitness, nutrition, and behavioral changes. More than just a pretty face, she has behind her two bestselling books, numerous DVDs, a Wii fitness game, and meal plans. This woman is serious about helping people reach their weight loss goals.
Along with Jillian, there is a panel of experts that make up the wellness team, including doctors, a psychotherapist, and a green beauty expert. These professionals write regularly for Jillian's blog about a variety of topics and also take the time to answer many of the questions sent by participants.
Basic Diet Tenets/Nutritional Philosophy (5)
The Jillian Michael's program is based on 3 "S" factors: self, science, and sweat. "Self" incorporates the need for support and guidance on your journey, including helping you to make the right decisions and banish the bad habits. "Science" is behind the food portion, balancing nutrition and eating right. Sweat is all about the exercise, which is where Jillian shows her hard edges.
Online tools include an interactive weight tracker, calorie calculator, recipes and menu guide, fitness advice videos, and exercises. There are also message boards, forums, and the opportunity to have a weight loss buddy.
There is no maintenance program for members. You are either on the program or off the program. The belief is that once you have reached your weight loss goals, you should have the skills to continue on and maintain that weight.
Exercise/Fitness Component (6)
Given that Jillian is a trainer by trade, you can bet that there is a strong fitness component. Based on the adage of "calories in, calories out = weight loss," exercise is the strength of this program. In addition to the fitness advice videos and exercises mentioned, members get a weekly fitness planner based on their fitness level. This includes what exercises to do and how to do them.
There is also the ability to purchase Jillian's fitness videos and the Wii Fitness Ultimatum Program to aid in workouts and motivation.
Because specific components are only accessible online via membership, we were not able to verify the quality and quantity of this section's offerings.

You will know how many calories a day you will be allowed, and how to make the best use of those calories. Shopping lists, recipes, and guidelines for eating out are available to members.
There are weight loss supplements available. These are proprietary weight control and body shaping formulations to aid you in getting weight loss results. You are not required to buy any, but they can aid in weight loss, and provide necessary vitamins and minerals you may need.
Note: This may be a difficult diet to follow for vegetarians, diabetics, or those with special dietary restrictions.
Ease of Use (4)
You are required to count calories, will need to shop and prepare food differently, and embark on a regular fitness regimen. There is a calorie tracker and a fitness tracker you need to maintain. This will be complicated at first, but after a month or two should come more easily.
